At the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2025) Finals held at Zhengzhou University on October 15, CUG secured 2 silver and 5 bronze awards, with 7 projects selected from 6.19 million global entries.

“AI-Eye” team
Silver-winning “AI-Eye” project, led by undergraduate HE Qiao from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, developed an intelligent photoelectric pod with millisecond response. Integrating self-developed chips and AI, the system performs 5D lifecycle inspections of transport infrastructure, enhancing monitoring efficiency and safety.

“SmartDrill” team
Silver-winning “SmartDrill” project, led by doctoral student YANG Xiao from the School of Future Technology, addresses conventional drilling challenges through multi-dimensional sensing and AI algorithms for real-time geological analysis, fault prediction, and automatic parameter optimization.
Five additional bronze awards were won in low-smoke flame-retardant materials, maritime rescue systems, landslide monitoring, hydrogen storage technology, and AI solutions for petroleum engineering.
With 2,789 entries submitted this year, CUG integrates competitions into innovation education through systematic training. At the provincial level, we won 7 gold, 5 silver, and 12 bronze awards, receiving the Excellent Organization Award for five consecutive years.
Moving forward, CUG will continue leveraging competitions to deepen innovation education, encouraging hands-on practice among its students.
