CUG held the 9th “CUG Cup” Alumni Football Tournament and the inaugural “CUG Cup” Alumni Table Tennis Tournament on November 1 and 2. Twenty-two football teams and eight table tennis teams from 22 alumni associations participated, bringing over 600 alumni together in Wuhan to celebrate CUG’s 73rd anniversary.



On the football pitch, alumni demonstrated excellent teamwork and competitive spirit. The table tennis matches were equally intense, with alumni showing strong sportsmanship and dedication.


Between matches, alumni reconnected and shared memories. Service stations were set up on-site to provide water, medical support, and other assistance.

The inaugural alumni table tennis tournament concluded on the morning of November 2. WANG Hua, former Vice President of CUG and Chairman of the Table Tennis Association, addressed the closing ceremony, noting that the event provided a valuable platform for alumni to connect through sport and maintain ties with their alma mater.
Table tennis results: Alumni Association of Zhejiang Province won the team championship, CHEN Qiang claimed the singles title, and WU Jinrong finished as singles runner-up.
Football awards: Hunan, MBA, and Xinjiang-Shandong United teams won the Gold Division’s top three spots; Zhuhai, Shaanxi, and Guangzhou took the Platinum Division honors; Hebei, Beijing, and Guangxi secured the Diamond Division podium. Several alumni teams received Sportsmanship Awards and other recognitions. GENG Yunguang earned the Golden Boot, WANG Tianqi was named Best Goalkeeper, and MA Yue won the Golden Ball Award.

The alumni football tournament has been held for nine consecutive years, establishing itself as an important platform for strengthening alumni bonds. The inaugural table tennis event further diversified alumni activities. CUG will continue to build such platforms to deepen alumni connections and harness collective strength to advance CUG’s development.
