CUG established the Institute for Engineering Excellence on December 28 of 2023, focusing on critical fields such as smart energy, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing. By collaborating with over 20 leading industry partners, including the China Geological Survey and China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, the Institute adopts a “dual-phase” training model to deepen the integration of industry and higher education.
Over the past year, the Institute has ushered in a new phase of industry-academia collaboration.
In mid-February 2025, CUG signed a cooperation agreement with Minmetals Exploration and Development Co., Ltd. for accelerated S & T innovation and education & training in the sector of mineral resources. Shortly afterward, on February 20, CUG partnered with Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. to create the “Zijin Class”, an innovative program designed to bridge academia and industry through tailored training models that directly address emerging sector demands. These collaborations mark a significant milestone in CUG’s efforts to embrace industry-academia integration and nurture outstanding engineers.
