The final of the International Social Entrepreneurship Competition for the Six Lancang-Mekong Countries’ Ethnic Minority Areas was held on November 20. The 2 teams made up of CUG domestic and international students became the standouts of the 27 teams from the Six Lancang-Mekong Countries’ Ethnic Minority Areas, taking the first and second prize.
The first-prize-winning team, “Builder of Space-Air-Ground Intelligent Geohazards Monitoring and Early Warning”, consisted Chinese, Laotian, Vietnamese, and Indonesian students. SUN Sixuan from the School of Engineering, the team leader, said that the participation of CUG’s Lancang-Mekong students in the competition will drive CUG’s scientific and technological achievements to serve the society and promote the sustainable economic development of the Lancang-Mekong Ethnic Minority Areas.
The members of the other team, “Leader of Mai’en Environment-Mine Ecological Restoration”, were from China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. ZHANG Jifa from the Institute of Geological Survey of CUG, the team leader, felt the enthusiasm and sense of responsibility of the Lancang-Mekong students. In the future, the team will keep promoting their technology in the Lancang-Mekong area.
The International Social Entrepreneurship Competition for the Six Lancang-Mekong Countries’ Ethnic Minority Areas is an essential part of the Program of Social Entrepreneurship and Poverty Reduction Cooperation in Lancang-Mekong Ethnic Minority Areas. The purpose of the competition is to adopt the Vientiane Declaration of the 3rd Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting, encourage the youth from the Six Lancang-Mekong Countries to innovate and set up business, and elevate the sustainable development of the Six Lancang-Mekong Countries’ Ethnic Minority Areas.
