CUG Team Helps Zhejiang Province’s Intelligent Control of Geohazard Risks

Jul 30, 2021

Typhoon In-Fa hit Zhejiang province on July 25. Lin’an, a district of Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province, strengthened the closed-loop management of geohazard risks by issuing 789 warning point locations which involved 11,704 people through a geohazard risk control App. CUG team led by Prof. YIN Kunlong helped the research of this App by building an early warning threshold model for geohazard risk control, realizing the automatic release of risk warnings, and grading geohazard risk warnings.

At the end of 2019, Prof. YIN’s team started to carry out research on the dual control of geohazard risks and hidden dangers in cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources of Zhejiang Province. Their research results for geohazards risk warning in Lin’an district during Typhoon Lekima were highly recognized by authority and then promoted around the province during Typhoon In-Fa.

Prof. YIN accompanied CHEN Yuanjing, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources of Zhejiang Province, during his inspection of the Demonstration Center for Three Gorges Geohazard Monitoring and Early Warning built by the team on November 18, 2020

Prof. YIN was invited to the launch of Dual Control Workbook of Geohazard Risks and Hidden Dangers in Counties (Lin’an Edition) in Zhejiang Province on April 28, 2021

Prof. YIN gave an invited speech during the book launch

The team has 20 people who, in long-term cooperation with world-class research institutions, do research on geohazards all over the country.
