CUG’s Three Gorges Field Observation and Research Station for Geohazards is listed among the field observation and research stations of 2019 announced by the Ministry of Education, thus becoming CUG’s first field observation and research station accredited by the Ministry of Education.
The Three Gorges Field Observation and Research Station for Geohazards consists of the Badong Field Comprehensive Test Site, a field test site for prevention and control of geohazards, a monitoring network of small watershed environment, and a geophysical monitoring network, covering the Three Gorges Reservoir Region. The Station aims at tackling the scientific issues of the prevention and control of geohazards in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region, and does research on the evolution mechanisms of geohazards, forecast and early warning of geohazards, prevention and control of geohazards, and application of the big data theory to geohazards based on comprehensive, systematic, and highly accurate connituous monitoring data. With its current achivements, the Station is a research and obervation base with a good reputation home and abroad which integrates real-time field observation of geohazards, field comprehensive test, and talent cultivation.
The Ministry of Education has accredited 52 field observation and research stations of 37 higher education institutions this year.
