CUG International Students Win Prizes in Dragon and Lion Dance Competition

 In March, the 16th China Yangzhong Blowfish Culture Festival & 2019 China Dragon and Lion Dance Competition was held in Yangzhong, Jiangsu Province. Through fierce competition, "Dragon Flying, Belt and Road" Dragon-Dance Team composed of CUG international students won the Bronze Medal.

The International Student Dragon Dance Team consists of 13 Chinese and international students from Pakistan, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Tajikistan and other countries and regions. Under the instruction of Prof. HU Kai from School of Sports Science and Physical Education, the Dragon Dance Team carefully prepared and trained hard during the winter vacation. In the competition, with high spirit, the team fully demonstrated the dragon's essence, energy, spirit and charm, and showed unique appeal of international students, which won praise of judges and applause from audience.

After the competition, Prof. HU Kai said it is her wish to popularize Chinese traditional culture among international students. She also hoped that CUG Team will be better and better, and more and more international students can participate in the sports and join CUG’s effort to promote Chinese traditional culture.

The international students who attended the competition said that they fully appreciated the profoundness of Chinese culture through the sports. They will continue to improve their skills and work hard to exchange cultures between their home countries and China as a cultural ambassador.

The competition was sponsored by International Dragon and Lion Dance Federation and hosted by Sports Guidance Center of General Administration of Sports of China, Chinese Dragon-lion Association, and Yangzhong City. 21 dragon and lion dance teams with hundreds of athletes from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries and regions participated in the competition.
