On March 25, the opening ceremony of “2019 The 2nd Exhibition of Contemporary International Ink Design (Wuhan)” was held at the School of Arts and Communication at CUG. Experts and scholars from Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, South-Central University for Nationalities, Hubei University, and nearly 100 students and teachers from the School of Arts and Communication attended the opening ceremony. GUI Yuhui, dean of the School of Arts and Communication and organizer of the Ink Design Exhibition (Wuhan) presided over the opening ceremony.
Professor LI Zhongyang, initiator of “2019 The 2nd Exhibition of Contemporary International Ink Design” and director of the Institute of Visual Design and Education at Capital Normal University, gave a brief introduction to the exhibition. Through creation and communication, ink design highlighted the ecological significance of coexistence of design and culture, and showed new ideas of contemporary art to the world. The exhibition collected more than 2,000 works from nearly 30 countries and regions, covering 6 categories, namely visual design, cultural creation, space design, media design, experimental creation, and ink art. Through various forms of creation such as information, concept, design, experiment and media, more than 180 works in this exhibition interpreted the passion and vitality of contemporary ink painting. From the perspectives of high technology, new materials and innovation, the exhibition presented integration of tradition and modernity, art and technology, and emanated a fresh spirit of the era.
It is learned that this exhibition is a follow-up event of the 2018 Beijing International Design Week. As the largest and most influential display, promotion, exchange and trading platform for creative design in Asia, Beijing International Design Week has become an international top-level design event. Leveraging on the advantages in disciplines and platforms, the School of Arts and Communication at CUG, after holding the "2016 Exhibition of Contemporary International Ink Design", has once again become the organizer of the national tour of "2019 The 2nd Exhibition of Contemporary International Ink Design" in Wuhan.
The Exhibition of Contemporary International Ink Design has become a leading “Ink Design” exhibition brand at home and abroad. It not only contributes to creating a new image of Chinese traditional innovative design, but also makes the “new interpretation” and “new proposition” of ink design appear on the world stage. It is learned that this exhibition will last until April 24.
