CUG Professor Appointed as President of Association of Applied Geochemists

The Association of Applied Geochemists (AAG) has announced that Prof. ZUO Renguang of the State Key Laboratory of Geological Processes and Mineral Resources has officially assumed office as President of the association for the 2026–2027 term. He has also chaired the inaugural meeting of the new council. Prof. ZUO is the first Chinese scholar to hold this prestigious position in the organization’s history.

Founded in 1970, the Association of Applied Geochemists is a leading international academic organization in mineral exploration and applied geochemistry. The association convenes the International Applied Geochemistry Symposium biennially and co-publishes the flagship journal Geochemistry: Exploration, Environment, Analysis (GEEA) with the Geological Society of London. Prof. ZUO was elected as an AAG Fellow in 2016. He has served three terms on the association’s Council (2017–2018, 2019–2020, and 2022–2023) and as Vice President (2024–2025). Since 2017, he has served on the editorial board of GEEA and become Associate Editor of the journal in 2026. Currently, he serves as Associate Editor for three premier international journals in exploration geochemistry: Journal of Geochemical Exploration, Applied Geochemistry, and Geochemistry: Exploration, Environment, Analysis.
