The delegation toured CUG’s International Education College, gaining insights into the international student programs. They also observed Chinese language classes and an exhibition of traditional Chinese calligraphy and seal carving art, showcasing the cultural exchange initiatives at CUG.
The visitors explored the Gemological Institute of China University of Geosciences (GIC) certification program. They had the opportunity to visit the diamond appraisal laboratory and jewelry-making workshops, where they witnessed cutting-edge research and teaching facilities in action.
The delegation included high-ranking officials such as the Director-General Dr. Sisi and Deputy Director-General Mr. Zungu of the Department of Higher Education and Training, and Prof. Lekgobala, the Principal of the University of South Africa.
In recent years, CUG has made significant strides in international education, establishing several key institutions and centers, including the Silk Road Institute, the Wuhan Institute of China-SCO Geosciences Cooperation Research Center, and the Belt and Road International Center for Geoscience Education and Training. This visit deepened the partnership between CUG and South African vocational education community, fostering closer collaboration in areas such as geoscience education, vocational skills training, and cultural exchanges.
