​CUG Students Bag Special Prize in National University Student GIS Application Skills Competition

The CUG team made up by the teachers and students from the School of Geography and Information Engineering bagged the special prize in the 14th National University Student GIS Application Skills Competition on November 19, 2022. CHAO Yi and YAO Shihong, two associate professors were awarded “Outstanding Instructor”.

The competition is sponsored by China Association for Geographic Information System and the Geographical Society of China, and organized by Chengdu University of Technology, with each participating university sending a team of no more than 4 undergraduates. The competition examines the comprehensive ability of the participants to solve complex practical application problems with GIS tools, including the ability to collect, edit, and integrate spatial data, the application of spatial analysis technology, the ability to organize and write documents, as well as the ability to cooperate and plan as a team.

The teams of 720 students from 180 universities participated in this competition, making it the largest in scale and the most influential in its history.
