The national final of the 2nd National Chemistry Experiment Innovation and Design Competition for College Students was held at Qingdao University of Science and Technology on August 26 and 27, and the CUG team consisting of LIU Kai, LIU Yinuo, and DU Sisi supervised by ZENG Danli and ZHANG Yunfeng from the School of Materials Science and Chemistry won a first prize.

Their entry was “Improved electrochemical preparation of polypyrrole”. The short original experiment lacked variety in content and signs of characteristics. With improvement, it was transformed from a simple task-based preparation experiment into an open-designed comprehensive one.

Affected by COVID-19, the national final was conducted in two rounds of online oral defenses.
