The Center for Global Tectonics of CUG held a Seminar on Initiation and Evolution of Plate Tectonics on June 5. Over 100 experts from CUG and other research institutions joined the seminar in person or online.
CUG President WANG Yanxin made an opening speech where he introduced the journey of the Center for Global Tectonics and its significance.
Tim Kusky, Director of the Center for Global Tectonics of CUG, informed the attendees of the basic information, progress, current achievements, and future plans. Then 8 scholars gave keynote speeches about the initiation of plate tectonics, style evolvement, deep processes, and other hot issues in this field. All the experts agreed that the country’s scientists should contribute to the theoretical innovation and development of the theory of plate tectonics.
The Center for Global Tectonics was established in 2014. It focuses on the early evolution of the earth in Precambrian and the structure of orogenic belts and deep subduction Ⅲ Times.
