CUG Members of CPPCC National Committee Share Their Expertise and Help the Nation to Improve its Governance

On March 10, 2021, the fourth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country’s top political advisory body, concluded in Beijing. During the annual session of CPPCC, two members from CUG, Prof. WANG, Yanxin and Prof. TONG, Jinnan, have made multiple proposals to the committee on various issues.

Prof. WANG, Yanxin, a leading environment expert and also a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, has made proposals to “improve resources security and environment security by improving geological survey”, to “improve pollution prevention and ecological restoration in the Yangtze River Basin by initiating new approaches”, and to “establish national innovation centers for science and technology”

Prof. WANG, as the leading writer, also has joined hands with other CPPCC members in the proposal to “establish Wuhan national innovation center for science and technology and establish Wuhan Eastlake national comprehensive science center”.

Prof. TONG, Jinnan, a leading expert in stratigraphic paleontology, has made the proposal to “include knowledge of evolution of the earth and life in elementary and secondary education”. Prof. TONG, also as the leading writer, has co-authored with other CPPCC members in the proposal to “establish an exemplary area in West Hubei for comprehensive shale gas development”.
