CUG Professor Wins Hou Defeng Young Scientist Award for Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry

According to the Chinese Society for Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry, Prof. XIONG Qing from the State Key Laboratory of Geological Processes and Mineral Resources together with other 19 scientists won the 18th Hou Defeng Young Scientist Award for Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry (hereinafter referred to as Hou Defeng Award)

The research interests of Prof. XIONG are “melt/fluid – rock interaction in the upper mantle region of continental margins”, “upper mantle processes recorded in oceanic lithospheric sections of lower crust – upper mantle”, and “igneous and tectonic links between lithospheric mantle and overlying crust”.

The purpose of the Hou Defeng Award is to commemorate geologist and geochemist Hou Defeng and to honor the young scientists who have made outstanding and creative contributions to geochemistry in China. It has been awarded every two years since 1986.
