​CUG Students Win 28 Prizes in China Post-Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling

CUG students won 1 first prize, 6 second prizes, 8 third prizes, and 13 participation prizes in “HUAWEI Cup” The 16th China Post-Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling.

The team CUG-Miner, which consisted of postgraduate students ZHANG Huan and CHEN Long from the School of Computer Science and postgraduate student YANG Wenjun from the School of Mathematics and Physics, won 1 first prize with Prof. JIANG Liangxiao as the adviser.

14,014 teams of 486 postgraduate education institutions from home and abroad entered the contest. After 45 days of review, 188 teams were selected for first prizes, 1903 for second prizes, and 2821 for third prizes.

The China Post-graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling has been one of the themed events of the “National Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Activities Series” organized by the Degree and Postgraduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education, which is an academic competition on applied research of mathematical modeling and opens to all currently enrolled postgraduate students across the country. The Contest aims to improve the capacities in building mathematical models and applying computers in solving real-life problems and foster innovative spirits and teamwork awareness.
