National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has announced the final decisions on the funding of 2019. 199 CUG projects are funded with a budget of 106.86 million yuan, making CUG ranking 41 in the country and 3 in Hubei province. For five consecutive years, NSFC funding for CUG exceeds 100 million yuan.
Of the 199 projects, 2 are funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 3 are funded as the Key Program, 1 is funded as the Special Funds for Basic Research Instruments, 1 is funded as the Major International Joint Research Program, 95 are funded as the General Program, 92 are funded as the Young Scientists Fund, 2 are funded as the International Cooperation and Exchange Project, and 2 are funded as the Special Program.
The funded projects fall in 7 scientific departments, with 151 in the Department of Earth Sciences, 15 in the Department of Engineering & Materials Science, 13 in the Department of Information Sciences, 7 in the Department of Mathematical & Physical Sciences, 6 in the Department of Chemical Sciences, 6 in the Department of Management Sciences, and 1 in the Department of Life Sciences.
