CUG International Students in Lantern Festival Cultural Events on CCTV

On the day of the Lantern Festival (February 19, 2019), more than seventy CUG international students and over a thousand Chinese tourists boarded the Zhiyin Cruise for the Wuhan Folk Festival. The event was covered by "24 Hours", a program of the CCTV News Channel. It showed that Wu Yinya, a Mongolian student, and Yang Kang, an Afghan student, were making dumpling balls and working on lantern riddles merrily.

On the site, international students at CUGW appreciated typical arts and crafts of intangible cultural heritage in Wuhan City such as Han embroidery, carving, paper cutting, and dough modeling. They also listened to the mixed drama singing of Han Opera, Chu Opera and Huangmei Opera. What’s more, they were also involved in folk performances such as land boat dance and shell dance, and sugar painting as well as various handiworks. The students had so much fun with all these events.

On the site, the city mascot and Chinese handicrafts were displayed, which attracted International students who enjoyed the beautiful moments of the festival to watch or take photos.

As night falls, the International students in traditional Chinese costumes boarded the "Zhiyin" Cruise, watching the wonderful performance, as if traveling to Wuhan century ago.

This event is one of the activities of international students at CUG to experience Chinese traditional culture. All of these activities aim to enable international students to experience Chinese traditional folk and cultural performances, which deepen their understanding of China, and develop their interest in Chinese traditional culture.
