
On July 26–27, the 16th International Workshop on Computational Transportation Science (CTS 2025) was held in Wuhan. Centered around the theme "AI Empowering Transportation Science", the event was co-organized by CUG and the CTS Organizing Committee. It attracted numerous experts and scholars from 95 universities and 7 research institutions worldwide to share cutting-edge advancements in transportation science.
The workshop featured keynote speeches by distinguished experts including Prof. HUANG Haijun from Beihang University, Prof. Hai YANG from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Yafeng YIN from the University of Michigan, Prof. LI Zhichun from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Zhiwei WANG from Nanyang Technological University, Prof. Hai WANG from Singapore Management University, and Prof. Min XU from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Their presentations covered innovative traffic management solutions addressing real-world challenges, autonomous driving technologies and paradigm shifts, data- and model-driven transportation theories and applications, as well as insights into the research ecosystem and macro trends—showcasing both theoretical innovation and practical exploration in computational transportation science.
Eight parallel sessions were set up to facilitate in-depth discussions on frontier topics such as transportation network design and optimization, facility location and route planning, public transit operations and smart management, travel behavior, multimodal transport, air transportation, autonomous vehicles, low-altitude economy, machine learning, and big data.
The concurrently held 3rd CTS Algorithm Competition saw enthusiastic participation from students and professionals representing 85 universities and 21 companies. The top ten teams presented their work, demonstrating the innovative thinking and technical capabilities of young talents.
The International Workshop on Computational Transportation Science is co-chaired by Prof. HUANG Haijun, Prof. GAO Ziyou from Beijing Jiaotong University, and Prof. YANG Hai from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. It is a well-known international academic conference in the fields of management science and transportation research, aiming to provide a platform for extensive academic exchange and collaboration among scholars worldwide and to promote the development of computational transportation science.
