From December 19 to 25, the 26th Chinese University Badminton Championship (Super Group) was held in Zunyi, Guizhou Province. The competition is divided into three categories: General Group, High-Level Group, and Super Group, with the Super Group representing the pinnacle of university badminton competition in China. This year’s event featured mixed team competitions, as well as individual events for men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Our university’s badminton team achieved remarkable results. CUG’s badminton team achieved remarkable results.
In the finals, our student-athletes from the School of Sports Science and Physical Education won the mixed doubles title with a dominant 2-0 victory over the team from Beijing Sport University, with scores of 21-11 and 21-13. Additionally, our players performed strongly in the women’s doubles, securing an impressive seventh place.
The tournament attracted nearly 200 athletes and coaches from 23 universities across the country. It brought together top-tier badminton players, including several current national team members and over 100 athletes of National Elite or higher status.
This marks the second consecutive year that our students have won the mixed doubles title at this event, underscoring CUG’s outstanding tradition and continuous spirit of progress in the sport.
