African Institute of China-Africa Geosciences Cooperation Center Inaugurated at CUG

The opening ceremony of the African Institute of the China-Africa Geosciences Cooperation Center was held on March 23 at the International Education College on the Nanwang Mountain Campus of CUG.

LI Jinfa, Director of the China Geological Survey, and CUG President WANG Yanxin, unveiled the African Institute of the China-Africa Geosciences Cooperation Center.

WANG said in his speech that the establishment of the African Institute of China has laid a solid foundation of friendship, development, and win-win cooperation for the “Belt and Road” initiative. It marks a progress of collaboration betweenCUG and the China Geological Survey. He emphasized that the development and governance of geological and environmental resources in the countries along the “Belt and Road” are still in the early stage, so professionals are in great demand.CUG must bolster the African Institute of China and support the long-term and stable development of the China-Africa Geosciences Cooperation Center.

XU Xueyi, Deputy Director of the China Geological Survey expressed that the long-standing partnership between the China Geological Survey and CUG has proven to be an exemplary model for collaborative education. The establishment of the China-Africa Geosciences Cooperation Center is an important step of China-Africa Cooperation Dakar Action Plan, while the African Institute of China, as a significant part of the China-Africa Geosciences Cooperation Center, will contribute to the future of the China-Africa community. He expected both parties to work together to make the African Institute of China an influential platformfor scientific, technological, and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and African countries.
