CUG Professor Named Special Winner of 17th China Youth Science and Technology Award

Prof. SONG Haijun won the Special Award of China Youth Science and Technology Award on the opening ceremony ofWorld Young Scientist Summit 2022 and the award ceremony of the 17th China Youth Science and Technology Award on November 12, 2022. Prof. SONG became the first faculty member of CUG to receive this award.

Prof. SONG is the head of the Department of Geobiology and the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Biological and Environmental Geology. He is recognized for his contribution in mass extinction events, macroevolution, paleodiversity, and paleoenvironment changes.

The China Youth Science and Technology Award was established for young scientists in China as proposed by a group of prestigious scientists led by QIAN Xuesen. The 17th China Youth Science and Technology Award announced a total of 100 winners, among whom 10 young scientists were granted the Special Award.
