In celebration of its 70th anniversary, CUG held the Seminar of the China-Norway Marine University Consortium Alliance on June 28, with more than 3,000 people attending the seminar online.
Focusing on “Marine Ecosystems Under Global Change”, the seminar explored new ways for high-quality seaward development, and offered suggestions for global marine ecological protection.
Inaugurated on October 20, 2021, the China-Norway Marine University Consortium Alliance is comprised of a dozen Chinese universities including China Ocean University, Dalian Ocean University, Zhongshan University, and Shanghai Ocean University, home to a research team that advises the national government on distant-water fishing operations. On the Norwegian side, the University of Bergen, Nord University, the University of Oslo, and the University of Troms, which styles itself the Arctic University of Norway, are participants. The academic alliance is an indication of increased cooperation in sharing research on mariculture between China and Norway.
