The 6th China-Africa People’s Forum was held by China-Africa Institute on November 18 online and offline. CUG African student and teacher representatives from the International Education College were invited to the forum. Maria, a PhD student from Sierra Leone, made an invited speech of “The Role and Mission of China-Africa Youth Exchanges”.
The forum contained three sessions: “Opportunities and challenges for the development of China-Africa cooperation in the post-pandemic era”, “The significance of China-Africa humanistic exchanges to boost China-Africa joint contribution of Belt and Road Initiative”, and “The responsibility and mission of youth to promote China-Africa humanistic exchanges”.

Based on her own experience, Maria articulated the significance of youth exchanges to China-Africa friendship from the aspects of academic and cultural exchanges, environmental protection, scientific and technological cooperation, and solidarity in fight against the COVID-19, acknowledging China’s efforts for China-Africa youth exchanges. “Chinese and African youth have a shared future, so I hope youth from both sides can deepen mutual understanding, help the content of the Belt and Road Initiative grow, carry forward China-Africa friendship, and drive the socioeconomic development of both countries,” said Maria.
The 6th China-Africa People’s Forum opened in Beijing on November 15. The theme of the forum is to unite and cooperate, promote development, and join hands for a closer China-Africa Community of Shared Future. About 200 party leaders from more than 30 African countries, ambassadors to China, and heads of Chinese and African non-governmental organizations participated in person or via livestreaming.
