The secretariat of China South-South Cooperation (SSC) Network has announced that CUG officially joins China SSC Network, becoming the first higher education institution of Hubei province in SSC.
CUG has been engaged in academic, scientific, and cultural exchanges. Joining SSC will further promote CUG’s long-term research and international education in developing countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, which is a new step of CUG’s internationalized education and a new journey of multilateral scientific cooperation and exchanges. With it in charge of specific affairs, the School of Environmental Studies will strengthen international scientific exchanges and cooperation with countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, and carry out researches and develop talents in groundwater quality and water supply safety. So, CUG can better train high-level technical and management talents for developing countries, better provide scientific and technological advice for developing countries, and solve practical problems. Together with other member institutions, CUG will promote China’s development experience and advanced scientific and technological achievements to the world for China’s high-quality South-South Cooperation.
South-South Cooperation refers to the technical cooperation among developing countries in the Global South. It is an indispensable part of international multilateral cooperation and lets developing countries onto the path towards mutual help and cooperation. China, as the largest developing country in the world, has been a steadfast supporter and active participant of SSC. Since it was established in 1995, China SSC Network has strongly promoted technical and economic cooperation among developing countries by providing consultancy services, sharing knowledge, organizing seminars and facilitating exchange visits, which has been widely accepted and praised worldwide.
