​CUG Students Win Second Prize in 14th National Structure Design for College Students

The 14th National Structure Design for College Students was held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from October 13 to 17. After four days of fierce competition, CUG students won the second prize and CUG was given the excellent organization award.

A total of 112 teams from 550 higher education institutions across China were selected to participate in the national finals. On behalf of CUG, students CAI Zhilan, CUI Chenhao, and YANG Yifei, and teachers ZHOU Xiaoyong and ZHANG Weili from the School of Engineering demonstrate their abilities in theory, practice, and teamwork.

Co-organized by the professional advisory committee for civil engineering programs at higher education institutions and the educational affairs committee of China Civil Engineering Society, the annual competition is one of the nine highest-ranked inter-varsity competitions in science and engineering in China. It is also the most important competition in the field of civil engineering. This year, the questions of the competition were based on bridge structures subjected to vertical static and moving loads. Also, for the first time, on-site calculation and design were added.
