Opening Ceremony of 2020 Joint Educational Program in Computer Science and Technology

CUG officially started the 2020 joint educational program in computer science and technology with an opening ceremony on September 29.

New students of the program, Prof. LIU Yongsheng, Vice President of CUG, QU Hua, Director of Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) China Office, Heads of the School of Computer Science, and Heads of Departments and Units attended the opening ceremony.

 

GAN Yiqun, Director of the International Cooperation Office, presided over the ceremony.

LIU Yongsheng delivered a welcome speech where he informed the new students of the history of CUG, the relationship between CUG and IIT, and the significance of the joint educational program. He also hoped that they would shoulder responsibility in the era and break new ground.

QU Hua gave an overview of IIT. She said that CUG and IIT shared a lot of educational ideas and that both universities had made scientific breakthroughs and develop talents for their countries. She wished everyone academic success and a meaningful life.

Prof. Peter Kilpatrick,Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Prof. Lance Fortnow, Dean of the College of Computer, and Rishab Malhotra, Assistant Vice President expressed their congratulations to the students through video clips.

WANG Lizhe, Dean of the School of Computer Science, hoped that CUG and IIT could leverage each other’s strengths for the development of computer science and technology major.
