Jun 17, 2020

Research Center for Extreme Weather and Climate & Hydrogeological Hazards of China Meteorological Administration was officially established at CUG on June 8. Relying on the advantages of the China Meteorological Administration and CUG, the Research Center, by exploring the interaction mechanism of thelower atmosphere and the near-surface Earth (Critical Zone), will combine Atmospheric Science and Hydrogeology and improve meteorological services for disaster relief. The Research Center will carry out collaborative innovation in integrated monitoring, occurrence and mechanism, and forecast and risk assessment. Its ambition is to become a world-class research center and talent base in 5-10 years.

By establishing the Research Center, CUG is determined to promote Earth System Science and put Atmospheric Science among its development priorities.
