Dear alumni, teachers, and students,
The heart of every CUG member, at home and abroad, has been concerned about the COVID-19 epidemic since last winter. Nothing, not even mountains and oceans, can hold back our caring thoughts for each other. During the epidemic, CUG would like to convey its sincerest greetings to all of you abroad.
The hearts of the overseas alumni were with the university when Wuhan was the hardest hit city. You offered consolation to the teachers and students at CUG and did everything you could to donate anti-epidemic supplies. Your actions injected confidence into the teachers and students’ battle against the epidemic and eased the strain of anti-epidemic work on CUG. You displayed your love for CUG as well as your vision and sense of responsibility through your actions, and all the teachers and students at CUG would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and pay their respects to you.
Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with President Xi Jinping at the core, Chinese people have made important progress in the fight against COVID-19 with strengthening unity, and Wuhan is moving steadily in a positive direction. Meanwhile, at CUG, thanks to the teachers and students’ united efforts, online teaching and learning is conducted in an orderly manner, the campus is safe and stable, and other work is also steadily moving forward.
Nevertheless, the epidemic broke out in many places across the world and keeps spreading, making the cross-border spread of the epidemic a concern for the world. CUG is always thinking of you and hoping that all of you stay safe and healthy. Besides, CUG will always support you and join hands with you.
Blood is thicker than water, and we pursue a shared future. We hope that all overseas CUG members will face the epidemic with a rigorous and scientific spirit, adopt an objective and rational view of the epidemic prevention and control of the local governments, take the initiative to learn and disseminate scientific knowledge of epidemic prevention, and use effective prevention and control measures to ensure the health of yourselves and your families.
CUG cares about its every member, no matter where you are in the world. We hope that CUG teachers and students who are in exchanges programs or studying abroad keep calm facing the epidemic, get support from your work units, research institutions, and universities if any problem arises, balance the relationship between self-protection and work, research or study in order to make progress in work and study while staying healthy.
“Someday, with my sail piercing the clouds; I will mount the wind, break the waves, and traverse the vast, rolling sea.” Although there is a vast ocean between you and CUG, CUG will always work together with you to defeat the epidemic. Please tell CUG right away if you are in difficulty, because your alma mater has your back. Let’s look forward to the warm spring when COVID-19 fades in the world. Wish every CUG member abroad good health and success!
