CUG, ASEAN Geosciences Cooperation Center, and Chengdu University of Technology reached an agreement to build ASEAN Institute of China-ASEAN Geosciences Cooperation Center (hereinafter referred to as ASEAN Institute) together on November 15 during 2019 (the 10th) China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum & Exhibition.

The establishment of ASEAN Institute helps upgrade foster stronger synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN Vision 2025, strengthen in-depth cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in geosciences, mining and education, and forge a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future. Based on CUG’s advantages indisciplines, talents, scientific research, and internationalization, ASEAN Institute will cultivate internationalized talents in geology, resources, hydrology, environment, disaster, engineering, public management, economic management, etc. It will provide talent support, technology services and decision-making consultation for ASEAN countries in international cooperation in the field of geosciences, pooling wisdom for the common development of ASEAN countries and promoting sustainable regional economic development.
China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum is now the largest annual international event of mining among those co-hosted by China and ASEAN countries.
