On the morning of September 8, CUG Graduate School held 2019 Orientation Ceremony on the Nanwang Mountain Campus. Present at the Orientation were fresh students, YIN Hongfu, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CUG leadership, Heads of Departments, Directors and Heads of Units.
Addressing the students and faculty on behalf of CUG, President WANG Yanxin officially welcomed students to the Graduate School and wished a Happy Teachers’ Day to the faculty. He said that CUG is a national key university affiliated with the Ministry of Education，a university with pursuit of truth and original aspiration in mind, and a university on its way to become a world-class research university of geosciences.
WANG pointed out that WEN Jiabao, alumnus of CUG and former premier, had indicated CUG spirit, which is keeping faith, believing in truth, respecting science, pursuing truth, staying committed, and practicing truth. He believed that the everlasting CUG spirit would be passed down from generation to generation. He encouraged the students to become the vanguards of innovation and science & technology in the era. He also hoped that the students could inherit CUG spirit and follow the examples of their predecessors, taking the right attitude, challenging themselves, and achieving academic success.
The supervisor representative Prof. XIA Fan and the student representatives BU Lingxue and HUANG Miao delivered speeches.
