It was reported by Xihua News Agency that WANG Shuguang, Bachelor from the School of Engineering, and WU Yafei, PhD from the School of Earth Resources, received the Innovation Awards of “Yangtze River Students”; PENG Hao, PhD from the School of Environmental Studies, received the Entrepreneurship Awards of “Yangtze River Students”.

WANG is ranking the second among her counterparts because of a 3.86 GPA. She has also won a lot of honorary titles in the School of Engineering, in CUG, and in Wuhan as well as scholarships like the National Encouragement Scholarship. In 2018, 2 papers were published as the first author in Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, and 1 paper as the second author in Polymers for Advanced Technologies. Moreover, she holds a national patent on her invention.

WU earned his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and PhD degree at CUG. As a jointly educated PhD student, he was also granted a PhD degree by Curtin University, Austrilia. When he was a PhD student, he published 5 papers as the first author inGeology, Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, and Economic Geology. From 2018 on, he has been a reviewer of Mineralium Deposita, Ore Geology Reviews, and Geological Magazine.

PENG is the founder and chairman of the board of a technology company focusing on offering healthy drinking water and a member of the Chinese Association of Young Scientists and Technologists. He is loaded with awards of both science & technology and entrepreneurship. With 19 national patents, he is a pioneer of scientific innovation, and the products of his company are exported to over 30 countries and regions.
Up till now, 9 CUG students have been honored as “Yangtze River Students”.
The selection of “Yangtze River Students” started in 2014. This year, there are 30 awardees of the Innovation Awards of “Yangtze River Students” and the Entrepreneurship Awards of “Yangtze River Students” respectively.
