5th Young Scholars’ Forum in Groundwater Science Held at CUG

The 5th Young Scholars’ Forum in Groundwater Science, initiated by the Department of Earth Sciences of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), was co-sponsored by CUG and Nanjing University.

The forum was intended for exchanges of academic progress and research experience among young scholars and graduate students. With over 360 representatives from 59 higher education institutions and research institutes as well as 7 plenary lectures, 105 sub-plenary lectures, and 11 poster presentations, the forum made a new high in its record in terms of scale.

YUAN Daoxian, member of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, expressed his hopes for young scholars; Prof. WU Jichun of Nanjing University introduced the preparations of the forum; Prof. PU Shengyan informed the attendees of the NSFC funding of projects in groundwater science.

During the forum, 82 young scholars and 43 graduate students shared their ideas of new issues, new theories, and new approaches in groundwater science through oral and poster presentations. Besides, for the first time, the young scholars had the opportunity to talk with the editors and their counterparts about academic publishing and research progress during the forum.

The 6th Young Scholars’ Forum in Groundwater Science will be held at Chengdu University of Technology in October, 2020.
