The Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Poverty Alleviation Projects in China Implemented by IFAD of UN Finished

With the authorization of the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development (hereinafter referred to as the “IFAD”), CUG professor Shuai Chuanmin formally submitted the evaluation report to the headquarters of IFDA in Rome on September 2. This report “ the Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Poverty Alleviation Projects Implemented by IFAD of UN in China Based on the Econometric Methods” is one of the important international project carried out by professor Shuai, which is also the first time that Chinese experts finished independently a wide-range, in-depth, and systemic evaluation of the IFAD project implemented in China.

According to the research done by professor Shuai and his team members, IFAD project made great difference on the poverty relief of the target areas involved in this project. This evaluation covered 733,969 people from nine provinces and cities in China who have relieved from poverty thanks to the implementation of IFAD project, including 387,646 direct beneficiaries and indirect beneficiaries of this project.

This project lasted almost two years. Professor Shuai lead his team to do research day and night in order to collect first-hand data for the in-depth evaluation of this project. They have investigated 49 target villages and compression villages as random samples in Henan, Gansu, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan and Chongqing for three months. 
The achievement of this evaluation won high praise from the headquarters of the IFAD, which also contributed a lot to poverty alleviation and the construction of harmonious society .
