Wu Min is from Huazhou, Guangdong province.In 1979, he was admitted to the major automation of a college in Hunan province. After finishing master degree in this college, he stayed there as a teacher by coincidence.“At first, I didn’t want to be a teacher, because I thought being a teacher was very tough and I was tempted to discover another world outside.However, with more and more time that he spent on teaching and research practice, he found he was more and more interested in teaching and academic research. With hard work and efforts, Wu Min was appointed as a lecturer when he was 25, and then three years later he was promoted as an associate professor and became a professor at the age of 31.
Wu Min has engaged in advanced control theory and application, complex systematic control and optimization technology, technology of intelligent systems and its application for a long time.In the field of automation, he was like a farmer and he has cultivated in this field for decades.
Up to 2013, Wu Min’s team has achieved a lot.Among their 20 thesis for the National Natural Science Award, 8 thesis were published on the international top journals in this field “IEEE transactions of automatic control”and“the IFAC automated transactions”, the others were published on IEEE transactions and international key journals.13 of their papers were selected to the top 1% high ESI engineering reference papers, six of them were in the top 0.1% high reference papers.
Last year, Wu Min led his team to CUG and set up School of Automation.Only a half of year, everything in this department steped into right rails. And its development showed good rise.As for the future of School of Automation, as the dean, Wu Min had a clear plan. In the aspect of teaching, the department would be in accordance with the "practice-based, innovative, internationalized" concept to promote the reform of the talent training scheme.In terms of subject construction, they would focus on strengthening the team construction, the construction of research platform and the construction of scientific research ability.In terms of talent team, the key point is to introduce and train high-level talents and to establish a high -level talents team.
The goal of School of Automation was “playing an important role in the domestic and having important influence in the world”and all the members of this department worked toward this goal. As a leader and captain, Wu Min felt a long way to go.
